The music video for the song Lonely Boy by The Black Keys is an interesting video in the fact that it is a single take, performative video. Originally the video was supposed to have a script and forty people in it, however the band was unhappy with the edits of that video and decided to go this route instead and shoot a security guard dancing outside a motel room.
Compositionally the video has a light source coming in from the left and the rest of the light may either be natural light or a very diffused light. The colors are mainly white with hints of warm colors in the door, the word "office" and the man's shirt.
The camera follows a right to left horizontal pan in a close to straight line throughout the video. It was most likely not shot on a tripod due to the amount of shake and was probably just held by the cameraperson. One single solitary camera was used. The only time the camera breaks its pattern is at the end when the man puts his hand up in the air while dancing, in which the camera pans up to follow his movement. There is no real important moment due to the fact that this is just a man dancing and lip syncing in front of a camera.
The video reinterprets the song in that he isn't really searching or loving someone, he's just being himself. He is a single (in the sense that no one else is in the video) man doing his own thing, and he's just going to dance the day away.
