We All Have That Crazy Uncle - Script Based on Phrases Heard

We all have that crazy uncle

Two Teenage boys Enter to see uncle looking at his reflection in a picture frame’s glass with a sense of pride

Uncle: I won a moustache contest
He says while fixing his moustache

Teenage Boy: What?
They walk over to the kitchen counter and the first boy turns to the uncle

Uncle: You guys are now looking at an award winning moustache
Turns around to model with his hands drawing focus to the moustache

Other Teenage Boy: Oh great here we go again
Rolls eyes

Teenage Boy: Well what’d you win for it?

Uncle: Either a year supply of moustache wax or $1,000 dollars.
Hands lower

Teenage Boy: So what’d you choose?

Uncle: The year supply of moustache wax of course.
Walks to the other side of the room

Teenage Boy: Couldn’t you have made more money by

Uncle: Bud don’t you question my motives, this here is an award winning moustache, and you sir a) are just jealous, and b) are so stupid, you couldn’t poor water out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel in the first place.

Teenage Boy: That doesn’t even make sense
Puzzled look

Other Teenage Boy: That’s his mutant power
Whisper

Teenage Boy: Uh huh
Said as uncle picks up box

Uncle: Why the hell is it ages 8+ for this Ouija board anyways, I have to be 21 before I can drink alcohol but I only have to be 8 to summon a demon, where’s the sense?
Shakes his head

Other Teenage Boy: He does have a point there
Boy 1 turns to him

Teenage Boy: Shut up

Phrases
You’re so stupid, you couldn’t poor water out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel.

It’s hotter than 2 rats making love in a wool sock, behind a dryer, in the middle of June, on top of a volcano

That dog don’t hunt

Cry me a table

My uncle won a moustache contest

The recommended age for a Oiji board is 8+
So you’re telling me that I have to be 21 to drink alcohol but only 8 to summon a demon, right…

That’s his mutant power

Documentary Pitch

Taylor Hieber - Director
Treatment/Script for Documentary

The documentary I wish to make is all about guitars, and how they are built by Perry Germann. Electric guitars are an essential instrument to modern day music, and he hand builds each and every guitar before he sends them off to his customers. I want the meat of the documentary to focus on an interview of why he hand builds the guitar and does not use any modern CNC machinery. We will also capture some audio/video of him playing and interweave that into the video itself, most likely at the beginning and the end. Depending on time constraints of the video itself, a short tour of his workshop may be done as well, however this depends on how long the interview goes.

Some beginning questions to ask Perry are as follows: You are known as a luthier, can you describe what that means? What is the differences with building a guitar by hand versus using machinery? Advantages/Disadvantages? Do you find that there is a special sonic characteristic to your guitars due to the unique shape of the body, or was that just based around personal preference? Are your guitars specialized for any one genre?

Music Video Analysis - The Black Keys - Lonely Boy

The music video for the song Lonely Boy by The Black Keys is an interesting video in the fact that it is a single take, performative video. Originally the video was supposed to have a script and forty people in it, however the band was unhappy with the edits of that video and decided to go this route instead and shoot a security guard dancing outside a motel room.

Compositionally the video has a light source coming in from the left and the rest of the light may either be natural light or a very diffused light. The colors are mainly white with hints of warm colors in the door, the word "office" and the man's shirt.

The camera follows a right to left horizontal pan in a close to straight line throughout the video. It was most likely not shot on a tripod due to the amount of shake and was probably just held by the cameraperson. One single solitary camera was used. The only time the camera breaks its pattern is at the end when the man puts his hand up in the air while dancing, in which the camera pans up to follow his movement. There is no real important moment due to the fact that this is just a man dancing and lip syncing in front of a camera.

The video reinterprets the song in that he isn't really searching or loving someone, he's just being himself. He is a single (in the sense that no one else is in the video) man doing his own thing, and he's just going to dance the day away.

Introductions

My name is Taylor Hieber, and I have had many experiences with media. I first found music and eventually learned to play guitar when I could. Before I could play guitar however, I liked to watch TV, and by liked to watch I mean loved to watch. Dexter and Game of Thrones to Brooklyn Nine Nine and House. I tried to literally watch as much TV as I could, which may not be the best for an individual but oh well, live and let live I guess. If there was no restrictions on me I think I would make a TV show, I think it would be interesting to develop a concept over multiple episodes. I don't have any major goals, aside from taking over the world, but that may take some time, so until then I'll just make media. Why? It's just something I enjoy doing.
